Speculaasbrokken are the quintessential Dutch spiced biscuit—baked as a thick, fragrant slab and broken into hearty, rustic, crunchy chunks ("brokken"). Crafted from scratch with unbleached self-rising flour, pure unsalted butter, rich brown sugar, whole milk, a touch of sea salt, and our house-blended Speculaaskruiden (cinnamon, cloves, freshly grated nutmeg, coriander, cardamom, white pepper, mace, and ginger). Before entering the oven, each slab is finished with a brush of heavy cream and generously blanketed with crunchy almond slivers that toast to golden perfection during baking.
